Abstract

Agriculture is the mainstay of the Moldovan economy. It is an important strategic sector, but fails to constitute the engine of economic growth. In the past, a large percentage of agriculture in the economy of Moldova it was associated with an abundance of natural resources. Agricultural lands represent two-thirds of the country, and over 70% of agricultural land is arable. No other country in the world ciornoziomurile not constitute up to 80% of agricultural land. Today agriculture is important for the reduction of agricultural production, and is still far from being in balance to cope with foreign competition without state protection.
