Abstract:
Moldova enjoys a favorable climate and good farmland but has no major mineral deposits. As a result, the economy depends heavily on agriculture, featuring fruits, vegetables, wine, and tobacco. Agriculture provides employment for almost half of the population and contributes nearly a third of GDP and agricultural products account for the large majority of all exports. The large majority of Moldova’s agricultural land has been transferred from state to private ownership. The significance of agriculture to the economy and population of Republic of Moldova is reflected in the extent of its legislation. There is approximately 120 key legal acts cur rently in force in the sector.
