Avînd, de cele mai multe ori, cauze sociopolitice, pornind de la nivelul precar de trai pînă la repercusiunile regimurilor dictatoriale, migrația ilegală reprezintă totodată un aspect geopolitic semnificativ pentru Europa secolului XXI, fiind unul dintre principalele motive ce stau la originile amplorii crimei organizate.
